After many requests we are very pleased to announce that we are once again offering Practical Shotgun Shooting to our members.
Mayfair Shooting Centre was the first organisation in the North East to organise PSG at our site at Pittington over twenty years ago following the entirely unjustified ban on pistol shooting by the then government. It was though our liaison with local police forces that PSG became an accepted and legitimate sporting activity in the region. This enabled more people to obtain the necessary authorities for multi-shot (Section 1) shotguns along with the the use of slug ammunition.
Our new venue is not far from our old Pittington site at Houghton Quarry. Postcode is DH5 8AJ and this will take you right to the quarry gate. Directions are as follows:
If travelling out of Sunderland you’ll cross the A19 and pass the new Reg Vardy garage on the left, continue on until the road descends down a steep bank (Houghton Cut) and take the first exit off the roundabout (signed “Seaham”), this is Lake Road. Take the third junction called “The Green”. Go right at the T-junction and follow the road to the quarry entrance.
New shooters are most welcome – email us for details.
Costs are as follows:
For existing members of Mayfair Shooting Centre– membership of the Practical Section is £80 in addition to your usual MSC membership. This entitles you to attend any of the practical shoots during the year with no additional range or attendance fee – this works out at less than £7 per shoot if you attend our usual twelve shoots.
For the Practical Section only – membership is £120 per year.
For any visiting shooter – the range fee is £20 per attendance.
The fee for the initial shoots (February and March 2020) is £5 per person. Thereafter the above charges apply.
